15/01/2018 Aluminium Bowl
Whilst on site, I've been concentrating on soldering my larger pieces, as I don’t have the torch power at home.
The pickle in the silversmithing workshop doesn’t seem to be heated, so it takes ages.
To combat the boredom, and take advantage of the vast array of stakes, I decided to hammer out a bowl. Just for fun. And stress relief.
I found a decent piece of aluminium in the scrap bins, and cut it to an uneven octagon (to go with the shapes of the towers).
I set to work with a round stake and a rawhide mallet to get a vague bowl shape. I then switched to a planishing hammer to finish it off.
Super easy metal to work with, it hardly needed any hammering. No more than 30 minutes start to finish.
